Roseberys' Watches & Luxury Items (Wednesday 24 September) sale is lead by an ultra-rare vintage Hermès Vert Céladon Himalaya Kelly 32, estimated at £60,000 - £80,000. Described as "the world's rarest handbag", these pale green ombré alligator creations predate and directly inspire the now-iconic Hermès Himalayan, making them a landmark in the evolution of the brand’s exotic offerings. Celebrity devotees include Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and Victoria Beckham.

The Vert Céladon colour way was introduced in 1994 as the first iteration of the Himalaya line. Later editions are pure white and made of Nile crocodile skin, as opposed to alligator - like the present example. The vert celadon colour way allows for an appreciation of the alligator's original skin tone and is less processed than the white versions. The luminous sheen and tonal transitions echo the serene beauty of jade, while subtly foreshadowing the snowy gradients of today’s Himalayan designs.

Lot 646: E. Gubelin, Lucerne. A 14ct gold manual wind chronograph wristwatch with gloss black dial, circa 1940
Estimate: £2,000 – £3,000

This 1940s Gübelin chronograph is a rare find - signed timepieces by the maison don’t often come to market. The 17-jewel manual movement is complemented by a gloss black dial with crisp gilt markers. Collectors often seek out these mid-century chronographs for their clarity of design.

Lot 669: Jaeger-LeCoultre. An automatic calendar wristwatch with power reserve indication, circa 1950
Estimate: £1,800 – £2,200

A classic example of Jaeger-LeCoultre from the 1950s. Spider lugs, a pared-back dial, and a power reserve complication combine to create a watch that is understated yet technically impressive.

Lot 674: Vacheron Constantin. A manual wind bracelet watch in the shape of a shell with concealed dial, circa 1960
Estimate: £3,000 – £5,000

Vacheron Constantin’s playful side shows in this shell-shaped bracelet watch. The concealed dial and single pearl accent are a reminder that 1960s watch design could be both elegant and whimsical.

Lot 679: Cartier. An 18ct rose gold and diamond set wristwatch, Tonneau, 2007

Estimate: £7,000 – £9,000

The Tonneau remains one of Cartier’s most collectible time pieces. This diamond-set example is no longer in production, offering a combination of refined case design and discreet gem-setting that collectors value.

Luxury Items: Sale Highlights

Lot 838: Hermès. A rare vintage shiny Vert Céladon Himalaya Kelly 32, 1995
Estimate: £60,000 – £80,000

This Vert Céladon Kelly predates the iconic Himalayan and is exceptionally rare. The soft celadon gradient and shiny alligator hide hint at the design evolution that would lead to Hermès’ most sought-after exotic pieces. Crafted in shiny alligator with impeccable artisanal precision, Vert Céladon bags are exceptionally rare, appearing only occasionally on the secondary market and highly prized by collectors.

Lot 779: Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld. A 2002 Limited Edition Mademoiselle Jacket Shoulder Bag
Estimate: £1,800 - £2,200

A playful yet masterfully crafted homage to one of the most iconic garments in fashion history, this 2002 limited edition Mademoiselle Jacket shoulder bag captures the spirit of Gabrielle Chanel’s timeless design codes. Rendered in supple black quilted lambskin, the bag is shaped to mimic the silhouette of the legendary Chanel tweed jacket, complete with gold-tone “button” accents, a decorative collar, and faux flap pockets, all finished with exquisite attention to detail. The design debuted as part of Chanel’s early 2000s seasonal accessories under Karl Lagerfeld’s creative direction, yet it was not shown on the runway, making it a true retail-exclusive collectible.

Lot 898: Gucci. Xbox Series X collaboration set, 2021, edition 53/100
Estimate: £15,000 – £20,000

In a landmark collaboration bridging luxury fashion and next-generation gaming, Gucci and Xbox unveiled this ultra-limited Xbox Series X console bundle in 2021 to mark two major anniversaries: 100 years of Gucci and 20 years of Xbox. Limited to just 100 individually numbered sets worldwide, the bundle was available exclusively through select Gucci flagships; London, Milan, New York, Tokyo, and Beijing—and sold out immediately upon release. Merging Gucci’s iconic design language with Xbox’s technological prowess, the console is laser-engraved with Gucci’s signature “GG” motif - a clever dual reference to Guccio Gucci and the gaming phrase “Good Game.”
