To be registered to bid and approved for the auction.
When the auctions starts it will be shown on our homepage, and we will display a link on our “Upcoming Auctions” page and on all lot pages to take you through to the Live Auction.
The Live Bidding Page shows the live feed with a video and audio feed of the auctioneer, the bidding panel (where you can see current bid and place bids online), the lot image, lot description, and you can browse past or upcoming lots.
This page is updated in real time as the auction progresses.
To place a bid in the Live Auction, make sure you are aware of the current asking price which will be displayed on screen and then simply press the “Bid Now” button where the asking price is displayed.
If you are outbid a button will appear asking if you would like to bid again with the new amount, and you will need to click to confirm if you want to bid again.
Please listen and watch the auctioneer and use the information on screen which will clearly display if you are the highest bidder or have been outbid. If you are the highest bidder when the auctioneer puts the hammer down then you will be sent an invoice after the auction for the lot.
All auction lots have Buyer’s Premium applicable which is not included in the bid price. There may also be VAT charged on the hammer price, and Artist Resale Rights.
You have a bid calculator on every lot which you can use to tell you how much your total will be.
You will see a message on the live bidding page showing that the bid is no longer with you, but is with the room, a phone or another live bidding platform.
If you want to buy the lot you will need to bid again at the next asking price.
There is a charge for bidding online at third party platforms for example the-saleroom.com and Invaluable.
You can bid live during the auction from any device anywhere in the world and will experience full audio and video.
Alternatively, you can check all your Successful Bids in “Bid History” in the “My Bids” section found within the “My Account” section. If you are the highest bidder, an invoice will be emailed to you shortly after the completion of the auction. Payment and collection details will be on the invoice.
Absentee bids, also called advanced auto bids are bids that are placed in advance of the auction by a bidder.
They can be left at any time prior to the auction or even during the live auction providing that lot is not currently being offered or has already been sold.
You can increase your bid at any time before the lot is offered in the Live sale.
Remember to check the bid calculator and include any addition charges like Buyers Premium, VAT and Artist Resale Rights so you are fully aware what the final total for the lot will be.
To leave an absentee bid online, you will need to be logged in and registered for the auction. You will also need to be approved to bid.
Before the live auction has begun you can place absentee bids on Rosebery Live from the catalogue page or Lot page.
Simply find the lot you are interested in bidding for, and click the 'PLACE BID' button. This will reveal an overlay. Choose the 'COMMISSION/ABSENTEE BID' option and enter the amount you wish to leave as your maximum bid. Then click 'PLACE BID'
If you are the highest bidder you will see the item surroudned by a green banner and the message 'You are the highest bidder'.
You will then be able to access your Active Bids and your Bid History.
For example if there is a current bid amount showing of £200 and you enter a maximum bid of £300 and someone has already placed a bid of £200, the current bid will be £220 and you will be the current highest bidder.
If the current bid showing when you place your bid had a maximum bid of £260, your bid would start at a level of £280 as that is the next bid amount above the £260.
If you enter a bid that is lower than the current maximum bid you will be informed that you have been outbid, and the amount shown as the current bid will increase. You can then make the decision to increase your bid if you would like to. Enter a new maximum amount and click ‘Change Bid’.
If you are the current highest bidder on the lot you will be informed on screen.
If there is a reserve on the lot you will be informed if the Reserve has not been met.
You will be sent an email each time you bid to confirm your bid has been placed successfully.
If your maximum bid is outbid and the lot has not started to be sold in the live auction you will be sent an email to inform you and asked if you would like to bid again.
The email will notify you of this and will send a link to login to bid again. Alternatively, this can be done through the website in your “My Bids” section within “My Account”, from the catalogue or on the lot page.
A message will appear advising what the next bidding increment is, if you would like to bid this then enter the amount and click “Place” to place this amount.
