Roseberys is delighted to present a fantastic selection of silverware in the September auction, including historically significant and decorative pieces from Britain and beyond. Highlights include an Edwardian silver tea set owned by the great Antarctic explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton and a private collection of flatware featuring collectable pieces by the Batemans alongside Scottish provincial spoons and interesting 18th and 19th century items. Important Georgian silver highlights include a remarkable pair of George IV silver gilt jugs by William Elliott, engraved with the crest of the Forbes family (Lot 3), while the offering of 20th century silverware includes an array of decorative tableware, including an impressive ‘black swan’ centrepiece, and a model of a fox by the well-known British firm of Mappin & Webb.
