Roseberys’ summer silver auction comprises 300 lots of silverware spanning over three centuries and featuring collectable and historic pieces from Britain and around the world. The sale includes two private collections alongside interesting and important silverware with royal and aristocratic connections. Highlights include an assembled canteen of silver gilt flatware containing spoons engraved with the Royal crest, Garter & crown, and twelve teaspoons engraved with the cypher of Queen Charlotte. Other highlight lots include a pair of Victorian silver dessert stands by Hunt & Roskell; a rare Chinese export silver tea set by Chong Hang and a contemporary silver ‘Wild Grasses’ vase by Katie Watson.
Flatware collectors will find a range of interesting pieces, including a pair of tablespoons by Paul Storr, two rare acorn-bowl teaspoons, and a selection of English and Scottish provincial silver flatware including a set of teaspoons by Robert Keay of Perth.
A strong offering of Scandinavian, Chinese, Indian, Russian, Austro-Hungarian and French silver completes the sale and includes an impressive 19th century candelabra and a striking mirrored centrepiece by the Viennese firm of Franz Schiffer & Sohn.
