Roseberys London’s latest Modern British & 20th Century Art auction (Wednesday 11th September) demonstrated the continued strength of the market, with all the major works on offer selling and with many exciting results across the board.

Demonstrating the continued high prices for Grant's work, this went many times over its initial estimate, selling to a private collector in the USA after a drawn-out battle between online bidders.
LOT 299: Anna Zemánková, Czech 1908-1986 - Untitled
Price Realised: £15,744
Hot off Zemánková's inclusion in this year’s Venice Biennale, this delicate work sold to an international buyer, demonstrating sustained high prices for her work.
LOT 32: Gillian Ayres OBE, British 1930-2018 - Galahad, 1983
Price Realised: £13,120
Owned by Ralph I Goldenberg, this work by Gillian Ayres doubled its pre-sale high estimate, eventually going to a private collection in the UK.
LOT 367: Eliot Hodgkin, British 1905-1987 - One Pomegranate, 1954
Price Realised: £11,808
Three bidders competed for this beautiful little still life by Eliot Hodgkin, with interest in the work coming from all over the world.
