Modern British & 20th Century Art: Part I
Tuesday 9 September 2025 10:00
Including collections from across the globe, the sale features recent rediscoveries and works unseen for many years. Important highlights include a painting by Cornish artist Alfred Wallis (lot 40), originally owned by Jim Ede and in the same family collection since the 1930s, and a recently attributed work by Surrealist artist Leonor Fini (lot 241). The sale also features two sensational collections by Post-War Scandinavian artists, including Carl-Henning Pedersen and Egill Jacobsen (lots 197-198), alongside an important collection of early European Modernism by artists such as Raoul Dufy, Jean Cocteau and Jean Fautrier (lots 1-12). As always, there are wonderful work by British Modern artists, including John N. Nash (lot 48), Edward Seago (lot 99) and Simon Bussy (lot 27). More contemporary highlights are from the Danish illustration Kurt Ard (lot 287) and Craigie Aitchison (lot 255).
