Emily Naylor

Silver Cataloguer

Emily holds a BA in History from the University of Oxford and an MA in Early Modern Studies from University College London. After completing her studies, Emily moved back home to the North-East of England where she joined Anderson & Garland initially as a trainee valuer and auctioneer, eventually leading their monthly Homes & Interiors Auction.

Her academic background focused on social and religious history, which continues to shape her professional interests—particularly in silver. Emily has a fondness for 17th and 18th Century domestic silverware, especially pieces that show signs of everyday use. Likewise, Emily’s academic background lends itself to an enjoyment of researching rare and antique pieces due to a love of spending time in libraries and immersing herself in books. Emily’s interests also span through to the 20th Century with a strong appreciation for the Arts and Crafts movement with makers such as Albert Edward Jones, and more contemporary silver pieces including those by Georg Jensen and Michael Murray.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys reading both classic and contemporary literature, and visiting galleries and museums. She is also a member of the Silver Society.
