Electrical goods: These are sold as ‘antique’ or ‘decorative’ items only and if bought for use must first be checked for compliance with safety regulations by a qualified electrician.

Endangered species: Lots made of or incorporating (regardless of the percentage) endangered and other protected species of wildlife could be subject to import and export restrictions.  This material includes, but is not limited to, ivory, tortoiseshell, crocodile skin, rhinoceros horn, certain species of coral and Brazilian rosewood.  You should check the relevant custom laws and regulations before bidding on any Lot containing wildlife material if you plan to import the Lot to another country.  Several countries refuse to allow you to import property containing these materials, and some other countries require a license from the relevant regulatory agencies in the countries of exportation as well as importation.

Lots of Iranian origin: Some countries prohibit or restrict the purchase and/or import of Iranian origin ‘works of conventional craftsmanship’ (works that are not by a recognised artist and/or that have a function, for example carpets, tiles, ewers).  The USA prohibits the import of this type of property and its purchase by US persons (wherever located).  Other countries only permit the import of property in certain circumstances.

Furniture: Roseberys does not accept liability for failing to describe any alteration or addition to a Lot which is concealed by upholstery, gilding, painted decoration and could only be detected by physically dismantling the Lot.

Silver: Please note the ounce weights listed in the catalogue descriptions are troy ounces.

Clocks: No guarantee is made that any clock is in working order. 

Barometers: Any Lot containing liquid mercury will be classified as hazardous cargo for shipment overseas and will require additional declarations alongside specialist crating/packing. Prior to bidding, please contact your shipper.
