Urban & Contemporary Art

Our Urban & Contemporary Art Department offers a wide range of original works on canvas and paper, limited editions, and sculptures by current and rising urban and contemporary artists produced after the second half of the 20th century up to today. Inspired by graffiti and street art, urban art combines an eclectic mix of popular culture with social and political issues to create the perfect representation of the buzz of city life. Although the notion of 'Urban Art' developed from the streets, which is primarily concerned with graffiti culture, Urban Art now represents a broader cross-section of artists from around the world. In addition to still using the city walls as their backdrop, urban artists also produce original and edition works of art to be sold to a wider audience, while exhibiting in more formal gallery settings. Both urban and contemporary artists today are known for being media savvy, rising to cult celebrity status. Treading the fine line between high and low art, allowing them a more commercial appeal, urban and contemporary artists works are often translated onto various other media ranging from fashion items to household decor.

Choose from a wide variety of art in the sale including work by artists like Banksy, Mr. Brainwash, JR, Invader, Kaws, Shepard Fairey, Stik, Ben Eine, Takashi Murakami, Yayoi Kusama, Jeff Koons, Ai Wei Wei, Andy Warhol and many more.
