Holding bi-annual specialist sales since 2014, Roseberys Islamic & Indian Art departments is well established and respected.
The bi-annual sales offer metalwork, pottery, manuscripts, glass, decorative arts, paintings and most recently carpets, from the Islamic and Indian cultures from the mid-7th century up to and including contemporary works of art from these regions. From North Africa, through the Middle East, southern Spain, Turkey, Central Asia, through to China, India and Southeast Asia, the auctions encompass the vast range of artistic output.
Past highlights include a large miniature painting by Baba Bishan Singh depicting The Golden Temple in Amritsar which sold for £90,000
Our most recent sales have seen strong prices achieved for qur’ans, manuscripts, miniature paintings and textiles as well as contemporary Middle East and Indian and South Asian paintings and works on paper.
The department are delighted to be adding a third auction to the calendar in 2018: Arts of India, this sale will include a wide array of classical Indian art, with sculpture and painting featuring alongside fine textiles, gold and silver boxes, Indian miniatures and modern and contemporary Indian Art.
