The June 10th Arts of India sale is led by a strong group of modern works on canvas and paper by renown Indian artists such as F.N. Souza, Prabhakar Kolte, Ismail Gulgee, Arup Das and Kartick Chandra Pyne from private collections. As ever paintings from Rajasthan, Provincial and Mughal India, and from the Bilaspur, Kangra, Kalighat and Pahari schools of painting, will feature. Roseberys is also delighted to offer a ruby set bangle acquired by Field Marshall Robert Napier (1810-1890) at the Siege of Lucknow in 1857. Also included is a group of phulkari textiles from a private collection amassed in India in the 1950s, a wonderful group of early Gandharan sculpture and Mughal red sandstone architectural elements. Furthermore, the sale will feature prints by Thomas Daniell, Henry Salt and a group of Mughal daggers.
