Lot 1
Description
A large silver 'black swan' centrepiece.
C.J. Vander,
London, 1973.
The heavily oxidised silver swan realistically modelled in swimming pose, with textured feathers and a gilded beak, the hollow interior fitted with a removable gilt wire grille, 28.5cm high, approx. 35cm wide, approx. weight 142.3ozt
Condition Report
The swan is heavily oxidised but is in good overall condition. No splits or damage noted. Some minor scratching and nicking. The gilding to the beak is slightly faded and is tarnished in places. The oxidation is not entirely even across the swan– there are some patches of lighter colouration noted, particularly around the base of the neck and as small spots (mainly across the wings) as if from a spray. Please see images. Tarnish to the gilded interior. Hallmarks are clear. Overall, an impressive and attractive piece in good condition.
