Circle of Taddeo Zuccaro,
Italian 1529-1566-
Cain slaying Abel;
black chalk, pen, brown ink, and brown wash heightened with white on paper, oval, bears collector's blindstamp for George Clausen [L.539] (lower right), bears various later inscriptions verso, 26.6 x 23.4 cm. (unframed / mounted).

Note:
The technique of the present work is highly reminiscent of Zuccaro's approach as a draughtsman, recalling, for example, his drawing 'The Entombment of Christ' which sold at Christie's, London, on 4 July 2023, lot 11, and another, 'A scene from Roman history', which sold at Christie's, New York, on 24 January 2017, lot 35.

Qualifying living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a re-sale royalty each time their work is bought through an auction house or art market professional.

£50,000.01 to £200,000 - 3%
£200,000.01 to £350,000 - 1%
£350,000.01 to £500,000 - 0.5%
Exceeding £500,000 - 0.25%
