Description

Macpherson, Robert Turnbull, Scottish, 1814-1872, a group of eight large albumen prints of views and sculptures of Rome from the collection of Lady Brooke, c.1860s, each mounted on card and inscribed in pen, each mount with photographer's blindstamp R. MACPHERSON ROME and numbered in pencil, seven signed lower right in pen H. V. Brooke, 37.2 x 28.6cm and smaller, including Bas-relief of the Biga, Arch of Titus, from Macpherson's Photographs Rome, c.1860-1865; together with six large albumen prints of views and sculptures of Rome, c.1860s, each with blindstamp for E. BEGUIN ROMA, each signed in pen H. V. Brooke to lower right, five inscribed in pen, 23 x 33cm and smaller; another mounted albumen print of the Loggia of Raphael, 32.8 x 23cm; and two mounted albumen prints of Venice, 27 x 35cm (17)

Note: Robert Macpherson was a Scottish painted who settled in Rome in the 1830s and began experimenting in photography in 1851, specialising in the art and views of the city. He contributed 120 prints to the exhibition of the Architectural Photographic Association in 1858.

Buyer's Premium

The buyer shall pay the hammer price together with a premium thereon of 26% up to £20,000 (31.2% inclusive of VAT), 25% from £20,001 - £500,000 (30% inclusive of VAT), 20% from £500,001 thereafter (24% inclusive of VAT). The premium price is subject to VAT at the standard rate.

(ARR) - ARTIST'S RESALE RIGHT

Qualifying living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a re-sale royalty each time their work is bought through an auction house or art market professional.

It applies to lots with hammer value over £1,000 as follows:
0 to £50,000 - 4%
£50,000.01 to £200,000 - 3%
£200,000.01 to £350,000 - 1%
£350,000.01 to £500,000 - 0.5%
Exceeding £500,000 - 0.25%
ARR is capped at £12,500

Export of goods
