Hermès was established in 1837 by harness maker Thierry Hermès, but it was under his son, Charles-Émile Hermès, that the company moved to its iconic address at 24 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. This flagship boutique, located in the 8th Arrondissement of Paris, became significant after the street was incorporated into the city in 1860. Originally serving as a passage from the Louvre to the Forêt de Rouvray, the area is now partly represented by the Bois de Boulogne. In 1880, Charles-Émile relocated the Hermès workshops to this address and opened a boutique in 1889. The property, initially rented, was later purchased by his son, Émile-Maurice. In 1978, Hermès expanded by acquiring No. 26, and by 1992, most workshops had moved to new facilities in Pantin. The boutique was further expanded in 2007 to incorporate No. 28, reinforcing its position as the largest Hermès store in the world. This close relationship between Hermès and Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré reflects the brand's deep-rooted heritage and commitment to craftsmanship, making the location not just a flagship store but a symbol of luxury and elegance in Paris.
