Description

James Tregent, Leicester Square. An 18th century gilt and shagreen pair case pocket watch 
Number 817, Circa 1760
Gilt full plate movement with pierced and engraved balance cock, silvered regulation, squared baluster pillars, white enamel dial with Arabic numerals and outer 5 minute indication, foliate engraved gilt metal case, within shagreen gilt metal covered case, movement signed
55.6mm diameter 

James Tregent of London is listed between 1781-1808 and as watchmaker to the Prince of Wales.

Movement is clean and appears complete, balance wheel moves freely and balance post is intact but does not currently run resists being wound. dial is good with no crack but needs a clean. Inner case does not close due to faulty catch. some loss of gilding to back of case. Outer case has some loss of shagreen above the catch. loss of gilding to the pendant.

Qualifying living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a re-sale royalty each time their work is bought through an auction house or art market professional.

It applies to lots with hammer value over £1,000 as follows:
0 to £50,000 - 4%
£50,000.01 to £200,000 - 3%
£200,000.01 to £350,000 - 1%
£350,000.01 to £500,000 - 0.5%
Exceeding £500,000 - 0.25%
ARR is capped at £12,500
