Description
2001 Château d'Yquem Premier Cru Supérieur, Sauternes, 1 x 37.5cl (half-bottle)
Provenance: Property of a Gentleman, previously stored in an underground cellar.
Note: The 2001 vintage of this much-appreciated Sauternes estate is regarded as legendary, acclaimed by critics as exceptional and unequalled since 1847. The only producer of sweet wine ranked Premier Cru Superieur in the 1855 classification of Sauternes and Barsac commissioned by Napoleon III, Château d'Yquem was owned by the Lur-Saluces family from the 18th century until 1999 when it passed into the control of the LVMH luxury group, and the estate counted many of the crowned heads of Europe as well as American President and wine connoisseur Thomas Jefferson as its patrons.
