Description

Seven pieces of Chinese painted enamel

Qing dynasty, 18th and 19th century

Comprising a rectangular inkwell, 8.5cm wide, a hexagonal water pot, 6.5cm wide, a flared tea bowl, 8.5cm diameter, a hexagonal box and cover, 7cm wide, a flared vase, 8cm high, a wine cup, 4.5cm high, and a 'Buddhist Emblems' cup, 7cm high (7).  

清十八、十九世紀 銅胎畫琺瑯器七件

The surfaces of all seven items display expected wear consistent with age and type, including shallow scratches, hairlines, and enamel flaking or loss.

[1] Rectangular inkwell: Four areas of restoration, including overpainting at two corners. Cracking to the enamel on the interior.

[2] Hexagonal water pot: Minor enamel flaking to the rim, slight enamel losses to the interior.

[3] Flared tea bowl: Minor enamel and ornaments losses to the exterior.  An area of enamel loss measuring approximately 9mm by 4mm to the interior rim, accompanied by some cracks.

[4] Hexagonal box: Minor enamel and ornaments losses to the exterior. The interior has been overpainted and restored.

[5] Flared vase: Minor deformation to the metal rim. Several areas of minor enamel loss around the rim and footrim.

[6] Wine cup: Rubbing to the gilt decoration on the exterior. Slight enamel losses to several areas. Cracks and hairlines to the interior.

[7] ‘Buddhist Emblems’ cup: Significant overpainting to both the interior and exterior.

Buyer's Premium

The buyer shall pay the hammer price together with a premium thereon of 26% up to £20,000 (31.2% inclusive of VAT), 25% from £20,001 - £500,000 (30% inclusive of VAT), 20% from £500,001 thereafter (24% inclusive of VAT). The premium price is subject to VAT at the standard rate.

(ARR) - ARTIST'S RESALE RIGHT

Qualifying living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a re-sale royalty each time their work is bought through an auction house or art market professional.

It applies to lots with hammer value over £1,000 as follows:
0 to £50,000 - 4%
£50,000.01 to £200,000 - 3%
£200,000.01 to £350,000 - 1%
£350,000.01 to £500,000 - 0.5%
Exceeding £500,000 - 0.25%
ARR is capped at £12,500

Export of goods

Buyers intending to export goods should ascertain whether an export licence is required before bidding.
