A Mughal gilded and painted ivory ganjifa card with a lady and her attendant smoking,
West India, circa 1700,
The polychrome and gilt painted scene depicting a lady dressed in gold embroidered garments and seated against a red and gold bolster cushion, smoking from a gold huqqa base, an older woman seated below to the right also smoking from a silver huqqa, gold vessels before them,
6cm. across
Provenance: Private Collection of John Warner acquired in the 1960s

Condition Report
Some losses to the pigments, especially to the left half of the work, mostly affecting the bolster and the carpet beneath the main sitter. Another loss affects the actual left elbow of the older smoking woman. The pigment are strong overall although slightly dulled and tarnished. The gilt is rubbed and renders a duller hue.

Qualifying living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a re-sale royalty each time their work is bought through an auction house or art market professional.

£200,000.01 to £350,000 - 1%
£350,000.01 to £500,000 - 0.5%
