Lot 354

Description

Richard Eurich OBE RA,
British 1903-1992 -

Drifting Snow, 1978;

oil on board, signed and dated lower left 'R. Eurich 78', also signed, titled and dated on the reverse 'Richard Eurich Drifting Snow 1978', 20.2 x 35.3 cm (ARR)

Provenance:
with Alresford Gallery, Hampshire (according to the label attached to the reverse);
Nigel Reid, purchased from the above in 1998 (according to the inscribed label attached to the reverse);
Grant Waters Fine Art (according to the label attached to the reverse)

Note:
this is a brilliant example of the tranquil snowscapes that Eurich painted across his career and most notably from the 1970s. Eurich had settled in the New Forest in the 1930s and would largely focus on the landscape in his work, focusing on different weather conditions, in his highly refined style. The present work marvelously plays with tones of white, to create a highly subtle and evocative landscape image.
