Lot 57
Description
A George III 18ct gold and mother-of-pearl folding fruit knife, London, Alexander J Strachan, 1800, with mother-of-pearl handle with gold studs, with folding gold blade stamped to one side with assay marks and the other W.C., closed - 7.8cm long; overall - 14.2cm long overall
Condition Report
The blade in good overall condition with only a 2mm tarnish mark to the right of the 'W.C' mark. The blade closes smoothly. The gold rim to the opposite side of the blade is lifting very slightly, probably where someone has thought there was a blade and pulled the mount. Both sides have a veneer join to the mother-of-pearl handle and one side has a further veneer join at the base, which is probably a replaced section of mother-of-pearl.
