Description

Rafa Nassiri, Iraqi, 1940-2013,

Etchings, with aquatint printed in colour on paper, the two larger in green and turquoise blue signed and dated Nassiri 81, and numbered 13/30 ; each on paper embossed HS,  another larger in orange signed and dated Nassiri 81, and numbered 28/30 ; the two smaller signed and dated Nassiri 82, and numbered 48/50

The larger, 51.5 x 64.5 ; the smaller 35.4 x 38cm.

Born in Tikrit, Iraq in 1940, Nasiri studied painting and printmaking in Baghdad, Beijing and Lisbon. Nasiri was awarded the First Prize at the Baghdad International Festival of Art in 1986; the Honors Prize at the 4th International Graphics Biennale, Fredrickstad, Norway in 1978; the Jury Prize at the International Painting Exhibition, Cagnes-sur-Mer, France in 1977; and the Honors Prize at the International Summer Academy, Salzburg, Austria in 1974. Nasiri published two books, in Arabic: Contemporary Graphic Art (1997) and Horizons and Mirrors: Essays on Plastic Art (2005). In 2010, a book about the artist entitled, Rafa al-Nasiri: His Life & Art, co-authored by Sabah Al Nassiri and May Muzafar, appeared in Amman.

Buyer's Premium

The buyer shall pay the hammer price together with a premium thereon of 26% up to £20,000 (31.2% inclusive of VAT), 25% from £20,001 - £500,000 (30% inclusive of VAT), 20% from £500,001 thereafter (24% inclusive of VAT). The premium price is subject to VAT at the standard rate.

VAT is not charged on the hammer price unless it is stated that there is 'VAT applicable on the hammer price at the end of the description. Buyer's premium is subject to VAT.
(ARR) - ARTIST'S RESALE RIGHT

Qualifying living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a re-sale royalty each time their work is bought through an auction house or art market professional.

It applies to lots with hammer value over £1,000 as follows:
0 to £50,000 - 4%
£50,000.01 to £200,000 - 3%
£200,000.01 to £350,000 - 1%
£350,000.01 to £500,000 - 0.5%
Exceeding £500,000 - 0.25%
ARR is capped at £12,500

Export of goods

Buyers intending to export goods should ascertain whether an export licence is required before bidding.
