Description

Explanation of Causes (and Symptoms), (Sharh al-Asbab [wa'l-Alamat]), 
Burhan-ud-din Kermani, or Nafīs ibn ‘Iwad ibn Hakim [al-Kirmanī] the Doctor, 15th C., 

Dedicated to Ulugh Beg, Arabic and Persian manuscript on paper, 225ff., 2fl., 26ll. of black naskh script to the page, words overlined in red, marginal annotations in red and black ink, catchwords to the lower right folios, previous owners annotations to opening fly leaves ; including statements, in Arabic, on types of remedial treatments, a guidance, in Persian, on how to treat wounds, in Farsi, instructions, for an incantation, another, in Arabic, referring to "he who is God-wary" paired with a date of 18 Shaban, another in Arabic, which calls upon Muhammad, Noah and Abraham to protect the writer from spiders, snakes and scorpions and a story about Bozorgmehr, including a quote from the poet Saadi ; the closing folio's verso with a line of Persian invoking Muhammad to repel the enemy of Ali (‘sad-u-dah’, or 110) in Farsi, two lines of Persian verse from the Sufi poet Abu Sa'id Abu'l-Khayr, a faded exaltation of God, and a rearticulating of the title of the manuscript and praise upon Muhammad and his family, all in Persian to the centre ; in contemporary black leather binding, each cover tooled with central lobed medallions, similar smaller medallions above and below, one folio from a different manuscript loosely inserted, text bloc slightly loose, back cover lightly torn,2 fragile and torn spine in part, covers scuffed with losses

Buyer's Premium

The buyer shall pay the hammer price together with a premium thereon of 26% up to £20,000 (31.2% inclusive of VAT), 25% from £20,001 - £500,000 (30% inclusive of VAT), 20% from £500,001 thereafter (24% inclusive of VAT). The premium price is subject to VAT at the standard rate.

VAT is not charged on the hammer price unless it is stated that there is 'VAT applicable on the hammer price at the end of the description. Buyer's premium is subject to VAT.
(ARR) - ARTIST'S RESALE RIGHT

Qualifying living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a re-sale royalty each time their work is bought through an auction house or art market professional.

It applies to lots with hammer value over £1,000 as follows:
0 to £50,000 - 4%
£50,000.01 to £200,000 - 3%
£200,000.01 to £350,000 - 1%
£350,000.01 to £500,000 - 0.5%
Exceeding £500,000 - 0.25%
ARR is capped at £12,500

Please note ARR is calculated in euros. Auctioneers will apply current exchange rates.

Export of goods
