Description

A George III swing-handled silver sugar basket. 

John Robins, 

London, 1782. 

The urn-shaped body bright-cut engraved with scrolling floral motifs beneath the beaded border, designed with a beaded swing handle and engraved with monogram to garland-bordered cartouche, the circular foot engraved with conforming decoration and raised on a square base, weighted with pitch to underside, 13.7cm high, 10.2cm dia., together with: a Regency silver milk jug by Alice & George Burrows II, London, 1814, the fluted body raised on four ball feet to a gadrooned border and curved handle with scroll thumbpiece, the handle with engraved initials and the body engraved with crest, gilding to interior, 14.5cm wide, 11cm high (jnc. handle); and a George V silver milk jug, Birmingham, 1929, J. B. Chatterley & Sons, the angular handle to shaped body raised on four bun feet, gilding to interior, 12.8cm wide, 10.7cm high (inc. handle); total weighable silver (exc. Georgian sugar basket) approx. 12.7ozt (3)

Buyer's Premium

The buyer shall pay the hammer price together with a premium thereon of 26% up to £20,000 (31.2% inclusive of VAT), 25% from £20,001 - £500,000 (30% inclusive of VAT), 20% from £500,001 thereafter (24% inclusive of VAT). The premium price is subject to VAT at the standard rate.

Qualifying living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a re-sale royalty each time their work is bought through an auction house or art market professional.

It applies to lots with hammer value over £1,000 as follows:
0 to £50,000 - 4%
£50,000.01 to £200,000 - 3%
£200,000.01 to £350,000 - 1%
£350,000.01 to £500,000 - 0.5%
Exceeding £500,000 - 0.25%
ARR is capped at £12,500

Export of goods

Buyers intending to export goods should ascertain whether an export licence is required before bidding.
