Description

The dwarf Vishnu (Vamana or Trivikrama) visited by a princess, Deccan, North India, 18th century, opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, the scene within a temple, Vishnu shown standing under a parasol and receiving libations from a Deccani princess who pours water from a golden vessel, with family members behind their status shown by their crowns, they all wear raised shoes, below, ascetics and holymen relax, within outer blue border, laid down on card, painting 18 x 20cm.
