Sir Nicholas Goodison noted:
Hair Raiser: Here is a very respectable pair of citizens, dressed in their Sunday best, out for a walk or perhaps on their way to church. Pressing the lever causes him to raises his hat as good manners dictate, but the head comes with it, revealing a bloody neck, at which she stiffens, her mouth gaping. It is a new experience for her.
Push-me-Pull-me: Two rather Edwardian boaters are out for a row in a smallish boat, a genteel scene. Pulling and pushing (as the title says) the rod projecting from the prow causes the man to row.
Provenance:
Hair-Raiser: Purchased, Tony Mann, August 1993.
Push-me-Pull-me: Purchased, Tony Mann, July 1995.
