Description
Odette Bruneau,
French 1891-1984-
Interior scene;
oil on canvas, signed lower left, 65x54cm (ARR)
Provenance: Private Collection, London
Note: Odette Bruneau was a 20th-century French painter. The present piece is a typical example of her distinctive style, using the colour palette of oranges and blues which she regularly employed. The subject matter of the piece, as an intimate interior scene, is unusual for the artist, departing from the figure studies and landscapes to which Bruneau repeatedly returned. This work is nevertheless, like all of the artists work, strongly atmospheric, evocative, and enigmatic.
