Description

HTEIN LIN (Burmese, b.1966), Untitled, oil on linen, 76.5 x 76.5cm (unframed)

Provenance: Private Collection, London

林廷恩(1966年生) 無題 油彩麻布

來源:倫敦私人收藏。

Note: Htein Lin is a contemporary Burmese artist who works across a range of media and disciplines, including performance art, for which he is particularly well-known.

Htein Lin has developed a distinctive style which is highly abstract, using lines to explore issues of the movement of forms through space. Htein Lins use of bold and loose brushstrokes brings the viewers attention to the presence of the artists hand in the production of the work, emphasising the experience and act of painting itself as a central aspect of artistic expression. The present piece exhibits the influence of Buddhist symbols and visual traditions which defines much of Htein Lins work.

Works by Htein Lin were purchased by the US Embassy in Yangon. He has participated in exhibitions at Asia House in London, the National Museum in Poznań, Poland, the Karin Weber Gallery in Hong Kong, Olson Gallery at Northern Illinois University, Illinois, and Carcere le Nuove in Turin, among others.
