Lot 27

Description

A Spanish damascened iron dish, in the manner of the Zuloaga workshop, late 19th century, decorated in the Islamic taste, centred by a bearded male head in profile wearing helmet, 10cm diameter

Provenance: Dreweatts Donnington Priory: The Contents of Finchcocks Musical Museum, 11 May 2016, lot 394

Note: While the Zuloaga family were perhaps the best known craftsmen of damascene objects in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, several other workshops were active in the era including additional ateliers in Eibar and Toledo. Notably, the period saw the creation of decorative objects inspired by the elaborate architecture of the Alhambra Palace in Granada in which architectural elements were reproduced and reinterpreted in myriad objects.

VAT
VAT is not charged on the hammer price unless it is stated that there is 'VAT applicable on the hammer price at the end of the description. Buyer's premium is subject to VAT.
