With 30 years’ experience in Bonhams Valuations Trusts & Estates Department Mike has undertaken a number of high-profile asset-valuations for private, commercial and Institutional clients including International Collectors, National and Local Museums and Government departments. He has also been instrumental in bringing to sale a wide variety of important Fine and Applied Art – none more so than the 'discovery' of the Adams collection of exceptional Renaissance objects. Latterly Mike has concentrated on assisting executors and their legal advisors on all aspects of IHT valuations, from supplying formal Probate reports for the estate’s completion of its IHT 400, liaising with HMRC over disputed values, to any subsequent sales. Following on from that he can also assist executors, beneficiaries and their professional advisors on Tax and Heritage Assets and how 'pre-eminent' works can be used for capital tax-exemption, tax-efficient transfer to the Nation as well as philanthropy. He is a member of PAIAM (Professional Advisors to the International Art Market) and an Affiliate member of STEP (Society of Trust & Estates Practitioners).
On a personal note he’s an avid ‘consumer’ of London’s culture: Theatre, Galleries, Music and in the summer enjoys ‘mucking about in boats!’
