Roseberys’ first Silver sale of the year features an exciting line up of antique and contemporary silverware, including pieces by some of the very best makers and luxury manufacturers including Tiffany & Co., Georg Jensen, Christofle, Rundell, Bridge and Co., Paul Storr and Eliza Godfrey.
The sale incorporates a number of interesting and decorative items of Scottish silverware, including a George III salver engraved with the crest and motto of an important Jacobite family (Lot 8), a George II Scottish silver teapot (Lot 61) and a George IV Scottish silver wine jug (Lot 5).
In addition to a private collection of flatware and section of Judaica, the sale features a wonderful selection of decorative and contemporary wares, including a set of three enamelled silver dishes by Rachel Gogerly (Lot 60) and a striking centrepiece bowl in the shape of a curling stone by Roger Doyle (Lot 59). Novelties and collectables are also well represented, with highlights including a novelty Victorian silver gilt dog whistle (Lot 46) and a number of silver car models (Lots 170-174).
For those with an interest in flatware, highlight lots include a pair of Puritan spoons by Stephen Venables, an excavated Puritan spoon by the same maker, a pair of Hanoverian pattern forks by Paul Hanet, a set of table forks by Hunt & Roskell, a pair of Scottish provincial cream ladles; a canteen of Christofle flatware, and pieces by William Scarlett, the Batemans, and Paul Storr.
