This December we are delighted to be presenting our biggest Silver sale to date, comprising over 400 lots of British, Russian, Chinese, European and Indian silver dating from the 18th to the 21st century. The sale features three fantastic private collections, including an impressive array of wares by the firm of Christofle, a large offering of flatware by notable names such as the Batemans and Richard Scarlett, and a carefully curated selection of silverware from a distinguished family collection.
Highlights of this sale include a canteen of Russian silver flatware by the celebrated firm of Lyubavin (Lot 5). Complete with fascinating provenance including a document from the British Ambassador in Petrograd dating to the early months of the Russian Revolution, the canteen is coming to the market for the very first time having been passed down through generations of the same family. Further highlights include an Arts & Crafts centrepiece bowl (Lot 10) and a fantastic William IV Rococo Revival wine ewer by Charles Fox II (Lot 39).
A new component of our sale this December is our ‘Fifty Festive Favourites’ section (Lots 53-102), where collectors and Christmas shoppers alike will find an array of interesting and affordable pieces with wide-ranging appeal.
