Lot 125: David Hockney OM CH RA, British b.1937- In The Studio, 2019
Price Realised: £104,240

The sale was led by David Hockney’s In the Studio (2019), which achieved a price of £104,240, the highest result of the auction. Created in the later phase of Hockney’s career, the work belongs to his sustained exploration of interior spaces and the act of looking, combining digital drawing techniques with the language of traditional printmaking. The composition reflects Hockney’s long-standing interest in perspective, colour and the studio as both a working space and a subject in its own right, themes that have run through his practice from the 1960s to the present. The work attracted competitive bidding before selling to a private UK buyer.

Lot 267: Terry O'Neill CBE, British 1938- 2019, Brigitte Bardot in Spain, 1971
Price Realised: £36,640

Photography emerged as a key driver of competition, with Terry O’Neill’s Brigitte Bardot in Spain (1971) realising £36,640 and his iconic Faye Dunaway “Oscar” (1977) achieving £15,744, demonstrating sustained collector appetite for blue-chip twentieth-century photography.

Lot 114: Sir Howard Hodgkin CH CBE, British 1932-2017, For Alan VI, 2014
Price Realised: £15,744

British artists were a clear focal point, with strong results across works by Sir Howard Hodgkin, Tracey Emin, Banksy, Bridget Riley and Damien Hirst, reflecting continued confidence in the market for leading post-war and contemporary British printmakers. Hodgkin’s For Alan VI (2014) and Hirst’s H9-4 Politeness from the Virtues series (2021), both selling for £15,744, were among the standout British-led results.

Lot 349: Banksy, British, b.1974- Have a nice day, (Sleazenation) 2003
Price Realised: £4,198

A dedicated Pictures on Walls collection achieved a 73.33% sell-through rate, highlighting a healthy depth of demand for accessible editions and contemporary imagery.

Commenting on the sale, Ed Plackett, Head of Prints & Multiples at Roseberys, said:

“Today’s results reflect a market that remains selective but confident. We’re seeing particularly strong momentum in photography, which has become an increasingly important and high-performing niche for us, alongside consistent demand for established British artists. The breadth of bidding, both in the room and online, shows that well-priced, well-chosen works continue to attract committed collectors.”

Overall, the auction demonstrates resilient conditions in the prints and multiples market, with photography and British artists setting the pace for Roseberys in 2026.
