I am studying for the STEP Certificate for Financial Services Trusts and Estate Planning. The end goal is to be able to appreciate fully the complex interactions that exist between the legal and taxation factors impacting various types of private clients. I am finding the course really useful as within my role at Roseberys I work with trusts, inheritance tax planning and the solicitors involved within this field.

I have recently finished the The Complete Investment Banking Course via Udemy. I am excited to use the skills I learnt during this course at Roseberys. Prints as a category is very popular and active, not only because it is more affordable, but because it also comes with good investment potential. Therefore, this course has been useful to enable me to be to understand the clients that are coming from an investment background better. Got to speak the same language! Now I am taking the following courses via MoMA : In the Studio: Postwar Abstract Painting, Fashion as Design, Seeing Through Photographs, Modern Art & Ideas and What Is Contemporary Art?  The free offerings focus on the museum’s wheelhouse: modern art and enable learners to have a deeper understanding and appreciation of the museum’s wide-ranging collection. Because the classes come straight from one of the world’s foremost art institutions, they feature prominent artists, designers, curators and historians as guest speakers and instructors.

I have recently completed the Antiquities Trafficking and Art Crime course via the University of Glasgow on the Future Learn platform. During this course I learnt how people can protect heritage artefacts from theft, illegal sale, and destruction. The course also teaches you how to spot fakes and establish authenticity - skills very relevant to my job role. Now I am trying to pick up my Italian again via the Duolingo app. I have also started ‘In the Studio: Postwar Abstract Painting course’ through MoMa. This course offers an in-depth, hands-on look at the materials, techniques, and thinking of seven New York School artists, including Willem de Kooning, Yayoi Kusama, Agnes Martin, Barnett Newman, Jackson Pollock, Ad Reinhardt, and Mark Rothko.

I am currently taking the Fundamentals of Graphic Design offered by CALARTS. The course is split into four parts and is fundamentally about the myriad of forms of graphic design, both on screens and in print. I am finding it so interesting how the make up of images and words can create communication goals and the historical context behind graphic design. I am excited to learn more about typography later in the course. I am looking forward to applying my newfound skills to my role and being able to see designs with a fresh pair of eyes. I find that online learning is a great way to advance through your career and for personal development. You can do it at your own pace and from anywhere – as long as you have an internet connection.

I am also taking the the Antiquities Trafficking and Art Crime course via the University of Glasgow on the Future Learn platform. This free course delves into the seedy underbelly of the art world, looking at smuggling, theft, fakes, and fraud.  So far, I am really enjoying this course. I am also learning Spanish via the Duolingo app and by watching Money Heist with my daughters.
