Grade B

Provenance: The Collection of Philippa Saphir.

Notes:

Renowned for her ethereal aesthetic and mastery of drapery, Alberta Ferretti has become a symbol of refined Italian femininity. Establishing her eponymous label in 1974, Ferretti built her reputation on the craftsmanship of lightness, diaphanous chiffon, delicate lace, and flowing silhouettes that evoke a dreamlike sense of movement. Her designs often explore the intersection between romanticism and realism, combining artisanal techniques with a modern sensibility.

Through her label and her work at Aeffe, Ferretti has also been instrumental in promoting Italian design globally, maintaining a commitment to traditional tailoring and textile innovation. Each collection demonstrates her signature “poetic sensuality,” where construction and emotion are delicately balanced. In the landscape of contemporary fashion, Ferretti stands as both a craftsman and a storyteller, a designer who transforms fabric into feeling.
