Lot 813

Description

Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld.

A runway La Pausa Coco Life Saver Bag, of red and white lambskin leather with gold hardware, 2018-2019, comes with the bag only

Notes:

La Pausa was the only house entirely imagined by Gabrielle Chanel, built in 1928 in the hills of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin during a time when the French Riviera was the epicentre of modern art and international society. Conceived as an emblem of her success and independence, the villa became a cherished retreat from her demanding life in Paris. It was at La Pausa that Chanel enjoyed some of her happiest moments—hosting artists, playing tennis, dancing, and embracing a lifestyle of elegant ease and creative freedom. The villa also became an informal artist residency, welcoming leading cultural figures like Salvador Dalí, who spent a highly productive period there in 1938. More than just a getaway, La Pausa represented Chanel’s unique art of living: a harmonious blend of refinement, relaxation, and modernity that broke with early 20th-century conventions.
