Lot 777

Description

Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld.

A pink chequered sweater dress, Fall 2014 Ready To Wear 'Un Grand Magasin', Look 13, of large chequered design with two pockets to the front, 49% lana wool, 23% mohair, 21% polyamide, 5% cashmere, 2% silk, of French size 38 (approx. UK size 8/10)

Grade A-B

Original runway value £4,000

Notes:

Presented in the Grand Palais, transformed into a fully stocked supermarket, the Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear collection offered a witty commentary on consumer culture, blending humour with haute couture. The collection juxtaposed classic Chanel elements, tweed jackets and coats, with modern streetwear accents, including metallic leggings, quilted leather, and trainers. Accessories such as chain-link shopping baskets filled with Chanel-branded goods reinforced the playful critique of luxury and everyday life.

Look 13 exemplifies Lagerfeld’s signature approach: merging casual comfort with refined tailoring, creating a dialogue between streetwear sensibilities and Chanel’s couture heritage. The piece reflects the collection’s overarching theme of accessible luxury, reimagined with ingenuity and levity.
