Lot 429

Description

Harry Watson,
British 1871-1936-

A wooded river landscape;

oil on panel, faintly signed 'HARRY WATSON' (lower right), 29.5 x 40 cm.

Provenance:
with The Court Gallery, Somerset.
Private Collection, UK.

Exhibited:
Somerset, The Court Gallery, 'New Year Exhibition 2023', 19 January-25 February 2023, no.1.

Note:
The present work exhibits Watson's typically Impressionistic style, with his fluid brushstrokes, particularly in his depiction of the clouds, convincingly evoking the windswept freshness of the landscape. Similar works can be found
in the collection of Scarborough Art Gallery [62], and in the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery [K1566].
