Circle of John Linnell,
British 1792-1882-
River landscape with hills in the distance, Surrey;
oil on board, bears signature 'LINNELL' (lower right), bears label with partially indistinct inscription 'The[?] Valley / in Surrey / by John Linnell / artist 1792 died 1882' attached to the backing board, 21.5 x 26 cm.
Note:
The present landscape recalls, for example, Linnell's 'Two studies from nature' which sold at Sotheby's, London, on 4 July 2024, lot 273, and his landscape which sold at Bonhams, London, 18 January 2011, lot 36.

Buyer's Premium

Qualifying living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a re-sale royalty each time their work is bought through an auction house or art market professional.
It applies to lots with hammer value over £1,000 as follows:
0 to £50,000 - 4%
£50,000.01 to £200,000 - 3%
£200,000.01 to £350,000 - 1%
£350,000.01 to £500,000 - 0.5%
Exceeding £500,000 - 0.25%
ARR is capped at £12,500

Export of goods
