Lot 334
Description
Follower of Antonie Waldorp,
Dutch 1803-1866-
A busy canal in Amsterdam;
oil on canvas, bears signature 'A Waldorp' (lower right), 60 x 80 cm.
Provenance:
Collectie Randag, 's-Hertogenbosch.
Note:
Anthonie Waldorp began his artistic career painting stage scenes, before later focusing on domestic and church interiors and portraits. Finally he turned to painting landscapes, river and seascapes, which proved to be a wise decision as it led to international recognition. In 1833, together with Wijnand Nuyen (1813-1839), he travelled through France, Belgium and Germany. Many of his paintings were bought by German, Dutch and French kings.
