Description
A collection of sixteen portrait miniatures, including:

Portrait of a lady, wearing a purple wrap and pearls in her hair; watercolour on ivory, signed with initials and dated 'LS / 1763' (lower right), 4.3 x 3.5 cm.; André Léon Larue, called Mansion, French 1785-c.1834- Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, wearing a black coat and white stock; watercolour on ivory in a gilt scroll mount, signed and dated 'Mansion / 1819' (lower right), 7.1 x 5.5 cm.; together with fourteen further British School portrait miniatures, four indistinctly signed with initials and dated, 8.5 x 6.9 cm. and smaller, sixteen in two shared velvet mounts (16). Ivory submission reference: V63CVF71.
The lock of hair is encased in a gold and silver mount with graduated closed set foiled ruby and emerald surround. The miniature directly above is double-sided and is encased in a seed pearl border.
The gentleman in the upper right corner of the first mount, wearing a blue jacket with gold brocade, is a Sir Alexander Hamilton (1730s-1809) who was born in Scotland and later became an East India Company officer. All sitters represented are related to each other.

The buyer shall pay the hammer price together with a premium thereon of 26% up to £20,000 (31.2% inclusive of VAT), 25% from £20,001 - £500,000 (30% inclusive of VAT), 20% from £500,001 thereafter (24% inclusive of VAT). The premium price is subject to VAT at the standard rate.

Qualifying living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a re-sale royalty each time their work is bought through an auction house or art market professional.
It applies to lots with hammer value over £1,000 as follows:
0 to £50,000 - 4%
£50,000.01 to £200,000 - 3%
£200,000.01 to £350,000 - 1%
£350,000.01 to £500,000 - 0.5%
Exceeding £500,000 - 0.25%
ARR is capped at £12,500

Export of goods
