Description

Hattie Carnegie. A collection of costume jewellery, all signed, comprising: seven paste-set brooches, one designed as a stylised antelope, four of foliate and floral design, and two vari-hue paste tassel brooches, two of the brooches with matching ear clips; four further pairs of paste-set ear clips, one circular pair set with foiled back green pastes, one of foliate design, and two other examples; and a paste set panel bracelet, the panels designed as leaves (a lot) (AF)

Hattie Carnegie was a renowned fashion entrepreneur, turned costume jewellery designer. Her jewellery pieces, dated between 1939-1979, were well regarded by the world of Hollywood, and continue to be a favourite of collectors. A key vision of Hattie’s brand was well made and detailed designs, accented by simple lines. Hattie’s pieces often went unsigned, unfortunately leading to many reproductions in the following years, but resultantly making signed pieces all the more sought after. Earlier pieces bare a simple ‘HC’ maker’s mark, whereas later signed pieces have the full signature.
