Description

Fifteen Chinese miniature bronze paper weights and water pots

Ming dynasty - early Qing dynasty

Comprising a pair water pots in form of peach and pomegranate, 9 - 9.5cm; two horse and monkey (ma shang feng hou) weights, 4 - 6cm long; a pair of Hehe Erxian, each cast aligned in a mutually inverted form, 7.5cm across; a boy in frog pose holding an ingot, 5cm long; a recumbent elephant carrying a vase on its back, 6.5cm long; a recumbent Buddhist lion on oval base, 5cm long; a recumbent Luduan in playful pose, 6.2cm long; two Buddhist lions, the first seated, 4.2cm high, the other recumbent, 5cm long; a leafy lingzhi branch, 9.5cm long; a recumbent deer, 6cm long; Dorje Legpa on a goat, 4.5cm high six wood stands (15).

Provenance: Acquired from of Dorian Sherman, god son of renowned collector and dealer Hugh Moss.

Inherited from David Lee Sherman, who was a lawyer for Boodle Hatfield in Hong Kong and purchased these at auction there in 1975 - 77, with advice from Hugh Moss.

Buyer's Premium

The buyer shall pay the hammer price together with a premium thereon of 26% up to £20,000 (31.2% inclusive of VAT), 25% from £20,001 - £500,000 (30% inclusive of VAT), 20% from £500,001 thereafter (24% inclusive of VAT). The premium price is subject to VAT at the standard rate.

(ARR) - ARTIST'S RESALE RIGHT

Qualifying living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a re-sale royalty each time their work is bought through an auction house or art market professional.

It applies to lots with hammer value over £1,000 as follows:
0 to £50,000 - 4%
£50,000.01 to £200,000 - 3%
£200,000.01 to £350,000 - 1%
£350,000.01 to £500,000 - 0.5%
Exceeding £500,000 - 0.25%
ARR is capped at £12,500

Export of goods
