Lot 152
Description
A Victorian silver mounted scent bottle and vinaigrette.
Sampson Mordan & Co.,
London, 1873.
The rectangular red glass body to a silver gilt hinged cap chased with foliate scroll motifs, push button mechanism to open, the vinaigrette section to base similarly decorated but unmarked, possibly a replacement, the hinged cover opening to a pierced grille, 9.7cm high
Condition Report
Good overall condition. Some minor surface scratching and nicking to the silver mounts. Cap and collar are gilded, base is not. Some wear to the gilding on cap. Push button clasp functions well and cap clips closed snugly. Several small chips and losses to the glass inside cap. A few small nibbles to the glass rim noted under 10x magnification but generally in good condition. No cracks noted to glass body and only one small chip above bottom corner. Marks generally clear to collar and cover. No marks to silver base. Pins protruding slightly from bottom hinge. This section probably later added - grille also looks to be 20th century.
