Lot 354

Description

Attributed to Peter de Wint,
British 1784-1849-

Village of Lutton;

pencil and watercolour on paper, 28.6 x 44.8 cm.

Provenance:
Private Collection, UK.

Note:
The present watercolour depicts the thirteenth-century church of the village of Lutton in Northamptonshire. The technique of this piece exhibits the contrast between the loose foliage and the more detailed rendering of the architecture which is characteristic of de Wint's approach, as illustrated in his view of Lincoln Cathedral which sold at Sotheby's, London, on 8 July 2020 (lot 205).
