Description

A group of mixed silver spoons and sugar tongs. 

Various dates and makers. 

The group including: a George III teaspoon, 1794, George Smith (II) & Thomas Hayter, the handle with bright-cut decoration, 13cm long; two late George IV salt spoons, London, 1830, Richard Britton, with initials engraved to terminals, 10.8cm long; two William IV salt spoons, Exeter, 1836, Robert Williams, with initials engraved to terminals, 9.8cm long; a pair of Scottish, Victorian silver sugar tongs, Glasgow, 1883, John Muirhead & Son, the arms decorated with scrolling motifs and the bridge with engraved initials, 12cm long; a further pair of sugar tongs, Birmingham, 1937, Charles S. Green & Co., with claw terminals, 12.8cm long; a George V sifting spoon, Sheffield, 1915, Thomas Bradbury & Sons, with shell decoration applied to terminal, 12.5cm long; two teaspoons, Sheffield, 1948, Francis Howard, the handles engraved with scrolling foliate motifs, 13cm long; a part set of four coffee spoons, Sheffield, 1953, H. H., with shell design to reverse of bowls, 9.4cm long; a Continental caddy spoon, with import marks for B. Muller & Son, Chester, (1898 - 1909), the elongated bowl engraved to interior with head of putto and scrolling foliate and fruiting motifs to handle pierced with figure of St. George and the dragon, 10.3cm long; and other items, total weight approx. 17ozt (a lot)

Buyer's Premium

The buyer shall pay the hammer price together with a premium thereon of 26% up to £20,000 (31.2% inclusive of VAT), 25% from £20,001 - £500,000 (30% inclusive of VAT), 20% from £500,001 thereafter (24% inclusive of VAT). The premium price is subject to VAT at the standard rate.

(ARR) - ARTIST'S RESALE RIGHT

Qualifying living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a re-sale royalty each time their work is bought through an auction house or art market professional.

It applies to lots with hammer value over £1,000 as follows:
0 to £50,000 - 4%
£50,000.01 to £200,000 - 3%
£200,000.01 to £350,000 - 1%
£350,000.01 to £500,000 - 0.5%
Exceeding £500,000 - 0.25%
ARR is capped at £12,500

Export of goods

Buyers intending to export goods should ascertain whether an export licence is required before bidding. Export licences are issued by Arts Council England and application forms can be obtained from its Export Licensing Unit. The need for import licences varies from country to country and you should acquaint yourself with all relevant local requirements and provisions before bidding. The refusal of any such licences shall not permit the cancelling of any sale nor allow any delay in making full payment for the lot.
