Managing Director Auctioneer/Valuer

Ian’s career started with Phillips Auctioneers in Edinburgh in 1979 and he moved with them to Chester where he was then appointed manager of Sotheby’s Valuation Department.  In 1987, following a boom in the art market, he was motivated to start his own business and Rosebery’s was born.  Based initially in Islington, Rosebery’s then moved to Crystal Palace before the need for additional space prompted a move to The Old Chocolate Factory in West Norwood.

Ian enjoys auctioneering on sale days and has years of valuation experience.  The highlight of his recent career was the sale of a Restoration English Delft Charger which made a record price of £125,000 including premium.
